About Bling My Bra




 
Beth Cherkowsky (DepressionGlassWarehouse here on eBay) realized the power of a group of ordinary people after reading about women getting together to raise money for breast cancer research. She took that idea and ran with it, putting together 2009′s first annual Bling My BraGiving Works auction campaign on eBay with all proceeds going to this important cause.In 2009, Beth recruited several eBay friends to help her. They solicited donations of handcrafted one-of-a-kind themed art bras to auction off on Ebay – one each day for the month of October 2009 (Breast Cancer Awareness Month). Together they raised nearly $3,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the global leader of the breast cancer movement.

In 2010 Beth handed over the reigns to Kat
Simpson, who recruited 11 other charity minded women and the second annual Bling My Bra Campaign was off.  Bling My Bra   got its own eBay seller ID (BlingMyBra); website (BlingMyBra.com); and blog in 2010 and raised over $6,000 for the cause; doubling the 2009 total.

For 2011 we have a brand new core of 5 Officers
and an Advisory Board full of talented, helpful folks. This year Bling My Bra  continues to grow and our goal is an exciting $10,000. For more details, contact MediaRelations@blingmybra.com.
